Kolping Chapel, Chesterfield, Michigan This little chapel, located in Chesterfield - about 25 miles northeast of Detroit, is a registered Michigan Historic Site. It was erected in 1932 with stones and shells sent from Kolping societies, churches and missions worldwide. Father Adolph Kolping founded the society in 1846 to benefit German tradesmen and their families. The Detroit Chapter of the Catholic Kolping Society was established in 1926 by Father Joseph Wuest, who's inscribed plaque hangs in the chapel: "Honor by means of untiring work." Inside the chapel there are a dozen pews, statues, and a collection box for the Capuchin society; it is still in use today for the annual induction mass of new members. The chapel is located on the grounds of Kolping Park, where it holds its annual fund raising German festival every fourth of July weekend prints available | | | Clematis (sold) | Digitalis prints available | | | Gladiolis prints available | Iris Germanica prints available | | | Lilies (sold) | Malus - Crab Apple Blossom (sold) | | | Mourning Glory (sold) | Platycodon - Balloon Flower prints available | | | Poppies $185 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
